Kawanishi Takumi (川西 拓実; born June 23, 1999) is a Japanese singer and member of the Japanese boy group JO1.
Early life[]
Kawanishi Takumi was born on June 23, 1999 in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. He has one older brother.[5]
Prior to Produce 101 Japan, Kawanishi worked as a buggy engineer for a company.

Kawanishi's weekly rankings on Produce 101 Japan
In 2019, Kawanishi Takumi participated in the Japanese version of the reality competition show Produce 101, Produce 101 Japan. He auditioned as part of the group KSIX. He received an evaluation grade of B and was later re-evaluated as an A. He ended up ranking 3rd with 252,885 votes, securing him a spot in the boy band JO1.
2020-present: Debut with JO1, Protostar to Stranger[]
On March 4, 2020, JO1 debuted with their first EP Protostar.[6][7] The same day, they held their debut stage with the album's title track "Infinity" (無限大). On October 18, 2020, he appeared as a guest at Kobe Collection with Tsurubo Shion.[8]
Kawanishi served as the center for JO1's first full album The Star.[9] He will reprise his role as center for their fourth EP Stranger.[10]

In her review for The Star, Takahashi Azusa from Real Sound praised the improvement in stability of Kawanishi's voice since the release of Protostar, as well as his clear enunciation while retaining his charmingly breathy tone.[11]
